About Age in Place Lab
Last updated:
Age in Place Lab builds free, independent planning tools for people who want to make a home safer and more accessible, whether for themselves or for a parent.
Who runs the site
Age in Place Lab is run by Harold Tsai. Accessibility advocate combining technology with aging-in-place solutions.
What we do
We build calculators and checklists for the decisions that come up when someone wants to stay in their home as they age: what a walk-in tub is likely to cost in your state, how long a ramp needs to be and whether it fits your yard, and which bathroom changes to make first.
Every number on the site comes from a published source that we read, recorded and dated, and every tool shows your result before asking for anything. Sharing an email address is always optional. You can read exactly how each estimate is built on our How We Estimate page.
What we do not do
We do not sell tubs, ramps, grab bars or any other product, and we do not install anything. Our estimates are planning ranges, not quotes, and nothing on this site certifies that a design meets a building code or decides whether you are approved for a program.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use. Some product links earn us a commission, and in the future we may show advertising or introduce you to installers. Commissions never change an estimate: the code that calculates your result does not read any affiliate information. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how this works.
